Diploma of the Year awarded to a graduate of FTIMS
MSc. Patryk  Błaszczak, a graduate of the Faculty of Applied Physics and Mathematics in the field of Nanotechnology, completed his master's thesis under the supervision of dr hab. Eng. Beata Bochentyn from the Department of Solid State Physics, implementing a grant project from the National Science Center.

Thesis entitled: "Synthesis and use of lanthanum-doped strontium titanate, cerium and nickel with metallic precipitates of Ni nanoparticles as an additional anode layer in biogas powered DIR-SOFC fuel cells. Properties that prevent carbon build-up and sulfur poisoning ”received the Diploma of the Year 2019 at the Gdańsk University of Technology.

Mathematics for Neurobiology - Interdisciplinary Research at the Institute of Applied Mathematics

Justyna Signerska-Rynkowska
A modern approach to modelling complex real phenomena often requires the use of tools from various fields of mathematics. It also happens that application-oriented problems lead to interesting mathematical questions.

Dr. Justyna Signerska-Rynkowska from the Division of Differential Equations and Applications of Mathematics conducts research in mathematical neurobiology. The research is, among others, a part of the (National Science Centre, Poland) SONATA grant “Challenges of low-dimensional dynamics in hybrid neuron models” awarded to her in May 2020. In this case, the theory of low-dimensional dynamical systems (e.g.
