Latvian state scholarships for studies in Latvian higher education institutions

Citizens of more than 40 eligible countries are welcome to apply for Latvian State scholarships for studies in Latvian higher education institutions.
Application conditions
  1. Latvian state scholarships are available for studies.
  2. Each applicant can submit only one application on an open call.
  3. A scholarship can be received by Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD students for studies.
  4. Citizens from over 40 countries can apply.
  5. Scholarship cannot be awarded concurrently with other grants.
  6. A scholarship holder is required to make his own arrangements for insurance coverage.
  7. Scholarships do not fully cover all the expenses related to your studies. Tuition fees, living costs, and other expenses must be covered personally.
  8. Travel expenses from a home country to and from Latvia are not covered by Latvian state scholarships.
  9. If student is present in the territory of Latvia for less than 15 calendar days, then no scholarship is provided.
  10. An applicant must choose a study programme at a Latvian HEI prior to the application for a scholarship.
  11. An applicant must receive a letter of acceptance for the chosen study programme from the Latvian HEI prior to the application for a scholarship.
  12. The letter of acceptance for the chosen study programme from a Latvian HEI needs to be provided by the designated contact person.
Amount of the scholarships
  1. €500 per month for Bachelor’s or Master’s students;
  2. €700 per month for PhD students.
Eligible applicants
  1. Bachelor's students who have already successfully completed at least 1 academic year at any higher education institution (HEI);
  2. Master’s or PhD students from any previous HEI.
Awarded time period
  1. Up to 10 month for Bachelor’s and Master’s students;
  2. Up to 11 months for PhD students.
