Recruitment for the 5th edition of the Bekker NAWA program | Faculty of Applied Physics and Mathematics at the Gdańsk University of Technology

The program offers scholarship holders the opportunity to complete a postdoctoral fellowship or part of a doctoral education, carry out research together with outstanding scientists from abroad, obtain materials for scientific work and establish long-term cooperation with foreign research teams. As part of the 2018-2021 edition, the beneficiaries carry/carried out their projects in the best centers in the world, ranked in the highest positions in renowned rankings, e.g. California-Berkeley, California Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Columbia, Harvard, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Oxford, Princeton, Stanford and the University of Chicago.

Under the Program, the following activities are eligible:

1. conducting research key development work at a given stage of career,
2. obtaining materials for scientific work or publications,
3. completing a post-doctoral traineeship,
4. in the case of doctoral students, realizing part of their education;

and additionally – only as a suplement to the above-mentioned purposes – other forms of scientific or academic activity, including teaching.

The application may cover one or more of the above actions. The application should take into account the objectives, importance for career development and scientific discipline, benefits for the parent institution and justify the selection of the host center for the planned activities.

Apart of the scholarship, beneficiaries may also receive a mobility allowance and an allowance for family members, if they will participate in the scholarship.

Scholarship holders of the Bekker NAWA program explore space, study literature, work on therapies to overcome diseases, discover innovative materials. They publish in reputable magazines and gain prestigious awards such as ERC Starting Grants.

The call for applications for this year’s edition of the program lasts from March 17^th to May 10^th, 2022, 3 p.m. local time (Warsaw).

The project may be implemented for a period from 3 to 24 months. The departure may start between March 1^st -  October 1^st, 2023.
