The European Respiratory Society’s (ERS) RESPIRE4 (REspiratory Science Promoted by International Research Exchanges 4) fellowship programme offers a platform for early career researchers to develop their skills in an international environment and supports fellows on their journey to becoming future leaders in the respiratory field.

The RESPIRE4 fellowship programme receives funding from the European Union's (EU) Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions grant agreement No 847462 (MSCA COFUND scheme).

Information for applicants:

  • the 3rd call of RESPIRE4 is now open with deadline on 1 May 2022 (23:59 CEST),
  • The RESPIRE fellowship programme is open to researchers with a PhD or four years of full-time research experience from any discipline,
  • fellowship recipients have the flexibility to choose and develop their own research project, but research must be related to the respiratory field,
  • projects should be completed in 24 months (European Fellowships) or 36 months (Global Fellowships),
  • fellows can choose to conduct their research project at an ever-expanding list of pre-registered host centres (the list of host centres is available here),
  • applications are welcome across the spectrum of respiratory research from basic science, translational and clinical research to health systems and implementation research.

More information about the program is available here.
