EPFL Global Leaders – an international schlarship program for PhD students

The Doctoral School of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne offers scholarships for PhD students. The Scholarship id co-funded by the Marie Skłodowska Curie-Actions (MSCA) under the Horizon 2020 program.

The fellowships may be requested in any discipline included in the areas of research of EPFL. EPFL Global Leaders fellows are employed as doctoral assistants and paid according to the standard salary scale of doctoral candidates at EPFL. The EPFLglobaLeaders fellowship consists of a monthly contribution to the salary of the doctoral candidate of 1 935 € and is granted for a period of forty-eight (48) months.

EPFLglobaLeaders is open to applicants of any nationality provided they fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

  • Applicants must hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent) before they sign their employment contract,
  • Applicants must be Early Stage Researchers (ESR): by the time they sign their employment contract, they must not have completed more than four years of full-time research, and they must not have been awarded a doctoral degree,
  • Applicants must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Switzerland for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately before the call deadline.

The whole selection process, from the call deadline to the final selection of the EPFLglobaLeaders grantees, takes around 6 months. Applicants submit their application via a dedicated online platform.

The call for applications is open until May 15th, 2022.
