Organizers PHOTOMOL
Julien Guthmuller, PhD, DSc is the chair of the PHOTOMOL Summer School.
He works as an associate professor at the Faculty of Applied Physics and Mathematics of Gdańsk Tech, and is the head of the Division of Computational Chemical Physics at the Institute of Physics and Applied Computer Science. His research interests concern the development and application of quantum chemistry methods for the prediction and interpretation of molecular/material properties and spectra, in particular in the field of solar energy conversion.
He holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Lyon (France). Before joining Gdańsk Tech, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Namur (Belgium), and the University of Jena (Germany). He is the author of more than 60 scientific publications and has coordinated several national and European scientific projects, like:
- LOGIC LAB Molecular logic lab-on-a-vesicle for intracellular diagnostics
- Theoretical and spectroscopic investigation of the photochemistry of supramolecular photocatalysts for hydrogen generation
He has experience in teaching quantum chemistry and numerical methods as well as in the supervision of Master and PhD students.
Organization of the summer school is supported by dr. Justyna Szostak, head of the ScienceApp project. Dr. Szostak is an assistant professor, the chair of the Rector’s Internationalization Committee of Gdańsk Tech, Dean’s Proxy for Internationalization, Erasmus+ Coordinator, Coordinator of the International Relations Office of the FAP&M, and an expert in the joint international multiple degree programs. She represents the university in many international organizations, including the RealMaths Consortium. She is one of the Directors and a Co-Chair of Task Force Learning & Teaching of CESAER – an association of 57 European universities of technology that represents over 1 million students and almost 100,000 academic staff. CESAER is an acknowledged stakeholder organization working closely with many EU institutions, notably the European Commission, Parliament and Council. Together it has many thousands of EU-funded projects and has been awarded billions of Euros worth of European research funding.
Justyna is a graduate of the Faculty of Applied Physics and Mathematics of Gdańsk Tech, where she obtained her Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Physics.
