Gilvana P. Siqueira and Angelika Łepek - Best Poster Awards at prestigious international conferences dedicated to electrochemistry and nanotechnology.

September proved to be a particularly successful month for the young researchers from the Department of Electrochemistry and Surface Physicochemistry. Two PhD students, Gilvana P. Siqueira and Angelika Łepek, received Best Poster Awards at prestigious international conferences dedicated to electrochemistry and nanotechnology.
From 7–12 September, the 76th Annual Meeting of the International Society of Electrochemistry (ISE) took place in Mainz, bringing together over 2,000 participants from all over the world. During the conference, Gilvana P. Siqueira was awarded the Best Poster Prize - a highly prestigious distinction given the number and scientific quality of the presentations. Gilvana conducts her research in Gdańsk under the Fahrenheit Scholarship funded by the Mayor of Gdańsk. Her supervisor at her home institution, the Federal University of Uberlândia (Brazil), is Prof. Rodrigo A.A. Munoz, while her research advisor in Gdańsk is Prof. Jacek Ryl.
Another achievement came during the International Workshop on Functional Nanostructured Materials (FuNaM-5), held on 24–26 September at the Faculty of Chemistry, Jagiellonian University in Kraków. This event, focused on nanotechnology and electrochemistry, gathered many researchers from Poland and abroad. Angelika Łepek received the Best Poster Award for her presentation titled “Electrochemical surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (EC-SERS) on hierarchically porous carbon electrodes modified with gold nanoparticles.” Angelika is pursuing her PhD under the supervision of Prof. Jacek Ryl, with Dr. Mattia Pierpaoli (from the Department of Optoelectronics, Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics) acting as her auxiliary supervisor.
A number of young researchers from our Institute also took part in FuNaM-5, presenting the results of their latest studies in the fields of electrochemistry, functional materials, and nanostructures.
We sincerely congratulate both PhD students on their achievements and wish them continued success in their scientific careers!
