Recruiting for the position of Scholar/Student for the SONATA 15 project
Position 1
Topics:
Employment as an assistant researcher (MSc student) at the project SONATA from National Centre of Science (Poland).
Description of project tasks:
• synthesis of transition metal compounds using solvothermal techniques;
• powder x-ray diffraction analysis (LeBail & Rietveld refinement methods);
• physical property measurements and analysis of magnetization and specific heat data.
Admission requirements:
• Bachelor Degree in physics, chemistry, or nanotechnology,
• Must have a good command of English (written and spoken) and interpersonal communication.
• High motivation to conduct research.
• Flexible working hours.
Candidates with additional experience in the areas listed below will be preferred:
- Powder x-ray diffraction analysis using the FullProf and/or TOPAS software packages
- Measurements of physical properties using the Quantum Design PPMS system
Procedures for the recruitment:
1st Stage – an assessment of written applications.

• A motivation letter stating the current/future interests, including description of scientific activity: completed courses, conferences, research projects, publications, etc. Please include a statement:

2nd Stage – a qualifying interview (in person/Skype/Zoom) with selected candidates
Terms and Conditions:
Scholarship amount: 1500 PLN / month
Employment period: 9 months

• synthesis and crystal growth of transition metal-bearing magnetic materials;
• powder x-ray diffraction and elemental analysis;
• examination of physical properties and analysis of magnetization and specific heat data.
Admission requirements:
• Bachelor Degree in physics, chemistry, or nanotechnology,
• Must have a good command of English (written and spoken) and interpersonal communication.
• High motivation to conduct research.
• Flexible working hours.
Candidates with additional experience in the areas listed below will be preferred:
- working with single crystal samples
- preparation of thin layers by exfoliation
- surface examination techniques (Raman spectroscopy, XPS)
