Quantum materials simply explained! Professor Wiewei Xie at FAP&M - Dec 14, 3:00 pm

Wiewei Xie
Professor Wiewei Xie, the holder of a great number of awards and recognitions, called “a leader in the design and discovery of quantum materials at Louisiana State University”, currently, a faculty member of the Rutgers School of Arts and Sciences, will run on-line classes for the students of the Faculty of Applied Physics and Mathematics.

Professor Xie received her Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Nankai University (Tianjin, China, 2010). Afterwards, she moved to Iowa State University, where she finished her doctoral studies (2014), and continued her research as a Postdoctoral Scholar at Princeton University. Right after, she was contracted as an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry of Louisiana State University. Now, Professor Wiewei Xie holds the position of an assistant professor at the  Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Rutgers. She is a young, enthusiastic, and inspiring scientist. The list of her awards includes Beckman Young Investigator (2018), NSF Career Awardee (2020), Rainmaker Emerging Scholar for Research and Creative Activity from LSU (2020), and these are just a few of her amazing achievements.

On Tuesday, Dec 14, 3:00 - 5:00 pm, Professor Xie will introduce our students to the topic of quantum materials - her field of expertise. “Chemistry Perspectives to Novel Quantum Materials” classes will regard the fundamentals of these interesting materials -  electronic structures, crystal structures, along with the concepts of physical phenomena and chemical bonding.
