Division of Electrochemistry and Surface Physical Chemistry

Back to Scientific Divisions

The scientific activity of the Division of Electrochemistry and Surface Physical Chemistry focuses on the processes taking place on the surface of solids, research on the relationship between the structure, chemical composition, and functional properties of materials. This applies in particular to various aspects of electrochemistry of practical importance: molecular recognition tools (biosensors), materials with photoand electrocatalytic properties, or materials for energy devices. In the area of research interests are carbon-based electrode materials (diamond or graphene derivatives, porous glassy carbons, etc.), vanadium bronze derivatives, and composites for 3D printing, carbon, and metallic nanostructures, conductive glass, and glass-ceramics. Basic and applied research in the area of degradation and corrosion mechanisms of materials, non-linear processes studies, and the development of impedance monitoring tools are conducted.

Currently, the Division staff undertakes the following research projects:

  • Additive manufacturing technology of electroactive three-dimensional structures from diamond reinforced polylactide composites (2020/38/E/ST8/00409) – SONATA BIS NCN, PI: Prof. Jacek Ryl
